Those McDonald boys

I just got back from another scrapbooking retreat with my girlfriends. It only takes a few days for me to miss them insanely and realize how crazy I am about my boys. So today we celebrated my first day of being off by going to have lunch with Daddy. It's so crazy that something so little gets Nolan so excited. Everything went well minus Nolan shutting the door of one of the big boss's office when she was meeting with someone. Oops! Then at lunch he belched while he was eating and Justin said, "What do you say?" meaning to say excuse me. Nolan's response? "THAT WAS A GOOD BURP!" really loudly.

There's always something that he manages to fit in to embarrass us. Last time when we were in the cafeteria and I was talking to a friend of mine, Nolan manages to sneak off and eat the onion rings on display! What am I going to do with this boy? I bet when everyone at Alcon sees us coming to have lunch they are thinking, "Those McDonald boys..."

One of Justin's coworkers gave him this gummy eyeball. I couldn't believe that he ate it!

More flags, more fun!

Justin's work, Alcon, has a big family day every year where they pay for everything...and I mean everything including food and souvenirs. Usually it's at the zoo or at Six Flags. It was originally scheduled in September, back during our monsoon days when it rained for a month it seemed. So they put out some rescheduled dates and we went this past weekend. It was the most PERFECT weather. I was a little nervous about going with the boys since Nolan is scared of his shadow and I've never really checked out the "kids" section of Six Flags.

It turned out to be a blast. Nolan was riding all kinds of rides. There were a couple that he looked at and quickly shook his head and we just didn't force him. Some of them were really fast though and he was a champ. It was Fright Night though and they had some really scary looking people walking around like zombies but we did a good job of distracting them the other way. The last thing we need is something else to give him nightmares. Campbell even rode a couple of rides and it was the cutest thing ever. They ask me if we wanted to put him on some of the rides but I'm just too neurotic of a mother to do that just yet....knowing how Campbell climbs out of things.

My first date with Justin was 10 years ago this month and at Six Flags. I asked him out (I still give him grief for that one) and it was the best first date I've ever had. It was so much fun 10 years later being at the same place, the same month and seeing what all has happened in that span of time. What made it even better was that it was just as fun as our first date.

A visit to eat lunch with Daddy

The boys have been keeping me really busy and now that swim lessons are over, we can actually go and do things. Glad we did it but seriously it was starting to feel like a job...getting two kids in swimsuits (me too), towels, sunscreen...all for just a 30 min lesson. Last week we decided to go have lunch with Justin. Alcon has a gorgeous campus with ducks, huge coy fish, beautiful sand volleyball courts, and fountains. Nolan LOVES it. We chased the ducks...I think we scared them but then they flew to the pond and let us feed them. Next we were on to feed the coy. Those things are the size of small children. After about 10 minutes outside and sweating profusely in the 100 degree heat, we went inside so Justin could show off the boys.

I think he thinks that Justin plays all day with a campus like that. Now the only thing Nolan can talk about is his "work". I asked him all about it. He said that he works at a place called "Intruven" (clever name I thought!) and that I can come up there and see his kids. Here's more of our conversation:

A: So where is your work?

N: It's way far far away. You can't see it from here.

A: What do you do for your job?

N: I work at the computer and we watch movies like Dalmations and we eat candy.

A: Wow, your work sounds awesome.

N: Yea, and (in a whisper) we eat chocolate ice cream!

It was the cutest thing in the world hearing him say chocolate ice cream in a whisper like it was a secret.
