I had to share this picture that Nolan recently drew. He drew it in Sunday School. It's a picture. No, not of a jack-o-lantern...it would be a portrait of me. Normally, this kid's artistic talent is undeniable, but either I need some plastic surgery or he might have had an off day. I do love that he gave me some glammed up eyelashes and Angelina Jolie lips though...that part I'll keep.

Charlie Brown
Nolan didn't ever really watch TV before he turned 2. He just really wasn't interested. Then, his first Christmas after he turned 2, he saw A Charlie Brown Christmas and loved it. I couldn't believe that he would love such a classic as his first movie. We watched it way into February that first year he saw it.
The other day I noticed that he kept wrapping his jammies around the legs of his art easel. I asked him why he did that and he answered back as if he saw it yesterday, "That's what they do to the Christmas tree in Charlie Brown." So there you have it, a tree skirt for his art easel in August! Merry Christmas!

an artist at work
We've had some fun evenings out in the backyard after dinner the past few weeks. Nolan is definitely his father's son when it comes to his artistic talent. He drew every part of this. I helped him spell duck but he wrote it out. What I am the most amazed about is that he'll just start drawing and I'll ask him what it is and he'll say, "I don't know yet," and then sure enough, he creates something like this.

Hot pink
Nolan's newest artistic phase is coloring. Not so much him coloring but he wants US to color and for him to watch. Tonight I was coloring with him in my lap and I said, "Will you find me a hot pink?" I don't think he knew what hot pink was so I helped him find one. As I'm coloring he asks, "Can I touch it?" I was a little confused at first on why he was touching the tip so carefully. He really thought it was HOT!

Edible art
The boys' school is awesome about creating the cutest little artwork for me to keep and cherish. I have artwork with reindeer using their feet as antlers or bats using their hands as wings. I just love it. Well Nolan's newest masterpiece was this snowman made of marshmallows and pretzel sticks. He was so proud of his artwork that he wanted to hold it on the way home to admire it. He kept saying, "I made this mommy, isn't it beautiful?" Well take a look at what it looked like when we got home. There's nothing like a gluey marshmallow...yum!

Artistic Prodigy
Yes he did it again. Nolan's artistic talent blows us away constantly. Tonight he drew on his easel that he got from Santa. I was just excited that he was actually using it since he's only drawn on it a handful of times since he got it. He started out telling me that he was going to draw Charlie Brown. He's loved drawing him since he was two and I guess he has a real life model to use to draw him. We lovingly refer to Campbell as Charlie Brown with his precious round face.

So I was busy on the computer and next thing I knew he drew this little caricature with his name at the bottom. Pretty impressive for a 3 year old, huh?

He definitely gets his artistic genes from his daddy. I guess these little artists start at a little age. Here's Justin with his early beginnings.
